Feivel’s Sunflower Journey

Feivel’s Sunflower Journey

Written by Feivel Cohen,  April 29, 2018.

Well today completes the journey I started a long time ago with Cafe Sunflower & Bakery. When I was 17 years old is when it all began. I was just a high schooler with no job at the time and was melting my brain during after school hours and summer and my mom asked me if I was interested in going to a bakery summer training program. And I love baking so of course I said yes…during those two amazing weeks I learned so much and made friends and the whole experience rubbed off on me. Suddenly I knew I wanted my job to be in the baking field. Senior year of high school around January my mom told me that Sunflower was opening a Cafe. My face lit up with joy! And I applied…and to my surprise I got hired. I worked there for almost two years and I loved it! I learned a lot and I got to pick up a ton of responsibilities. At one point I even got to be the 1st to open the cafe in the morning and set up. And at times when the manager would need to run out somewhere I would be the manager. I loved that… My bosses strongly suggested I apply for the bakery Pastry Arts Program. While I was nervous I’m glad I did it because now after all that hard work I am a successful pastry chef with a lot of people who support me. To all my teachers bosses and supporters while I was in the Sunflower Bakery Program I thank you sooo much. I am proud to say as of tonight I will be a Sunflower graduate ! Sara, Laurie and Elizabeth Hutter and all of the Sunflower team and graduates I thank you dearly. You guys are the best and forever in my heart! Congrats to all the 2018 Sunflower Bakery & Cafe grads and I wish you all an amazing future!
