The Café Sunflower training program provides job training and work experience for young adults with learning differences. The goal of the program is to prepare young adults for jobs working in ‘front of the house’ environments. If successful in the 3 month formal instructional phase of this program, trainees are then hired for 6 months of paid employment.
The first 12 weeks of formal instruction are comprised of structured, on-the-job training and employee development which includes customer service, work ethic & attitude, communication, time management, goal-setting, problem solving, efficiency & productivity, responsibility & honesty, success & setbacks.
If successful in the first 12 weeks and able to work independently, student is then hired for 6 months of paid employment working and improving on the skills and knowledge learned during training.
In the last 3 months of employment, we work with employees on their resume and job search skills, helping to put them on the path to employment.
After the program is completed, employees work with their service provider and/or families to look for a job.
