Allergies/Ingredients

Are you peanut-free?

Yes.  There are NO peanuts or peanut products (oil, butter etc.) in our kitchen.

Are you nut-free?

No. We use almonds, pecans, pistachios, and walnuts on a regular basis. Other nuts, but NOT peanuts, are used more infrequently. Nut-free items are marked with NF. We work hard to prevent cross-contamination but nut-free products are made in the same kitchen along with products containing nuts. To view all nut free items, click here.

Are you gluten-free?

No.  We use a lot of flour in the bakery.  However, we do have some gluten-free items.  Check the website for current availability.  Gluten-free items are marked GF.  We are not a gluten-free bakery. To view our gluten-free items, click here.

Are you dairy-free?

Yes. Our products and kitchen are completely dairy-free.

Are you soy-free?

No. Most of our products contain soy-based margarine or soy milk.

Are you sugar-free?

Definitely not, although we hope to offer some sugar-free items in the future.

Do you use trans fats?

No.  Sunflower Bakery abides by Montgomery County Law and uses only margarine labeled as not containing trans fats.

Are you vegan?

No. Our products are dairy-free, but many of them use eggs. Vegan items are marked with V.  To view our vegan items, click here. 

What is a plaque?

Don’t want writing directly on your cake? Purchase this removable fondant plaque. It will be sized to fit your cake. Inscriptions are written in dark chocolate.

Are you kosher?

Yes. We are kosher, pareve under the Rabbinical Council of Greater Washington.

Are you Pas Yisroel?

Yes.

Ordering

How do I order?

The best way to order is through our website www.sunflowerbakery.org.   As you move through the ordering process, delivery/pick-up options will be provided prior to payment.

How far in advance do I have to order?

We require 48-hour notice. For orders $300+, we ask for 72 hours notice. For orders $500+, a minimum of 5 business days. For orders over $700, a minimum of 7 business days is needed. Ordering deadlines around holidays will be adjusted. Please review holiday specific pages for details.

Can I create my own platter?

No, we are unable to accommodate custom platter orders.

What if I have questions?

Call 240.361.3698.  Our friendly customer service team is always happy to talk about our products and provide recommendations and guidance with ordering.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations may be made up to 2 business days before the designated pick up or delivery date, 3 days for Sunday orders. Cancellations after this time will not be refunded. In the case of inclement weather, please cancel within 24 hours of pick up or delivery for a full refund. Please note the timeframes listed may be affected by holiday closures.

Delivery

Sunflower Bakery offers delivery Sunday – Friday. Delivery is usually confirmed within 2-hours. Delivery fee is paid when checking out online and is determined by the distance from the bakery. The fee ranges from approximately $8 – $30 depending on location.

Delivery is available on orders of $35 or more.
Delivery on orders of $350 or more AND within 25 miles of Sunflower Bakery is complimentary.
If you require delivery outside our 25-mile radius, please contact us at info@sunflowerbakery.org.

Shipping vs. Delivery

Sunflower Bakery offers a specific list of packages for SHIPPING. Our SHIPPING menu includes preselected sets for delivery by FedEx anywhere in the Continental US.

Delivery is for local DC Metro orders.

Holiday Pick-up

Before major holidays (Rosh Hashanah, Thanksgiving and Purim), we expand our distribution reach by substantially increasing the number of pick up locations available throughout the DC Metro, even to Baltimore at times. Please check the website a month before the holiday to see the specific locations.

Payment

Can I pay with a credit card?

Yes, please.  This is our preferred method of payment, and the only one available when placing an order online.  We accept VISA, Mastercard and American Express.

Can I pay by check?

We prefer credit card payment through our online system.  If you are unable to pay with a credit card, please call the bakery at 240.361.3698.

Do you offer discounts to non-profit organizations?

Yes, we offer a 10% discount to all non-profit organizations with an EIN #.  Just input the coupon code “nonprofit”, and in the box on the lower right, your  Federal EIN # (not your state sales tax exempt #) when checking out online. The EIN must be provided for each order.
